Sazaa-E Kaala Paani is the story of the indomitable spirit of Indians, condemned to a fate worse than death at the dreaded pre-independence cellular jail at Port Blair called Kaala Paani. Govardhan, a qualified doctor and a moderate independence activist is arrested on his wedding day and sentenced to Kaala Paani for an extremist act he did not commit. At Kaala Paani, he witnesses and is a victim of atrocities committed by the ruthless jail Warden David Barry and his sadistic right hand man Mirza Khan. Here he meets freedom fighters from various backgrounds. He also meets Dr. Hutton, a benevolent British doctor who is convinced of Govardhan's innocence, secures his release papers. Meanwhile, events in Kaala Paani take an ugly turn and the movie explodes into a nail biting climax.
